Hi, I'm Vanessa!. I am Texan splitting my time between there and Santa Cruz. I grew up in Austin and discovered photography at a young age from my grandfather, who was a portrait and wedding photographer, too. After farm life, then Airstream life, then small town Lockhart life, you now can find me anywhere between San Antonio, Austin, and Santa Cruz as I drift back and forth, spending time with dear friends and family and photographing weddings along the way. My boys and I love to travel and to eat delicious food. We treat every day like it’s a special occasion. We have too many pets and wouldn't have it any other way.

I have been photographing weddings since 2007 and LOVE. IT. SO. MUCH.. It's a dream job, and I never get tired of seeing the excitement and joy on my couples' faces when they see each other for the first time on their wedding day. I am a storyteller with my camera, documenting candidly and naturally, so you will feel comfortable and relaxed with me around. Whether you’re getting married in California, Texas, or somewhere else, let’s see how we can work together! Send me a message, give me some deets, let’s talk!

Your wedding photos

Throughout the entire planning process, I am available to answer questions, talk over ideas, make vendor recommendations, and everything in between. I'll work with you to create a photo timeline that works with your other vendors. I'll also help you put together a shot list for family portraits. My goal is to make the process as easy and stress free as possible, and we'll work within your vision and priorities for the day. About 6 weeks before the wedding I'll send you a questionnaire to gather any final details and make sure i have al the information I need to photograph your day intentionally and unobtrusively.

We'll plan your engagement for a time and location that feels really good for the two of you. It's a great time to get to know each other even more before the wedding day and to get some practice in front of the camera, too.

After your wedding, all of your photos will be artistically edited by me and delivered to you through an online gallery. The gallery is password protected, and you can share it with your friends and family at your discretion. You will download the full resolution images to your personal computer, and you'll also have the option to order print products directly from there, too.

How long have you been in business?

Questions and answers

I started my company in 2011. Before that I worked for other professional wedding photographers for four years to learn the ins and outs of the business and how to take care of couples on their wedding day.

How many photos should I expect in my wedding gallery?

A good estimate is about 100 photos per hour of wedding day coverage.

What kind of gear do you use, and do you carry backups?

I use Canon mirrorless cameras. I shoot with two cameras for most of the day, along with a variety of lenses. My 24-70mm and 85mm are the workhorses, though. I carry backup gear at all times, yes!

What about formal group portraits?

Before your wedding we'll finalize a shot list to be sure we capture any and all "must have" group photos. I'll work with you directly to make sure that nothing gets missed. Some couples want to keep this super short and sweet; some couples want to include all their extended family, cousins, and friends from college. And both options are totally ok!

When will I receive my photos?

You'll receive a preview within a week of your wedding. Full wedding day photos will be delivered within 7 weeks of your event. Engagement and portrait sessions are delivered with 14 days.

How do I book you?

Do I need a second photographer?

A 2nd photographer is always optional. I always recommend a 2nd photographer for weddings that include - getting ready for both partners, particularly if it's at separate locations; guest photos during cocktail hour are important to you (I usually spend a good part of cocktail hour photographing family portraits, couple portraits, or reception detail photos); your guest list is over 100 people; or if your wedding venue is very large. Outside of those scenarios, I photograph many of my weddings solo - I love it, and I'm totally comfortable doing it.

What else do I need to know?

First, to me, your wedding is not a production; it's a magical day, and I'm here to photograph it as it happens, naturally and candidly. I will not ask you to do anything that doesn't feel authentic. We will collaborate together to make sure you know what to expect - not just with your photos, but also with the wedding day experience.
